Developing a positive living environment

The Hall Proctor is one of two Proctor roles in the UNB Residence Community (the other being an Educational Proctor).  A Hall Proctor is a selected student leader who works cooperatively with other House Team Members to provide support and a positive, developmental living environment for students in residence. While both Hall and Educational Proctors share several common responsibilities and work collaboratively in several areas, each position has unique responsibilities specific to its role. In addition to their common responsibilities, Hall Proctors focus largely on providing support and implementing programs within their Hall.

Unique responsibilities of hall proctors

Specific duties related to this support role include (but are by no means limited to):

1. Creating and maintaining conditions conducive to personal development.

2. Providing frontline support for students on their Hall; making referrals as necessary.

3. Working collaboratively with the Don(s), Coordinators, and Facilities staff/personnel to report damages and     create a safe and clean living environment

4. Communicating information to students on their Hall via diverse media (i.e. whiteboards, bulletin                     boards, posters, newsletters, eMail, Hall meetings, etc.)

Hall programming

Hall Proctors implement programs largely for residents in their Hall, both in response to emergent needs within the Hall and according to the Wellness Wheel model, with a particular focus on Life Skills Development and Community Development.
