Elected student leaders

House Committees are democratically elected bodies of students within each house. The House Committees plan and organize many events throughout the academic year and offer advice and suggestions on house and affairs. Each House Committee is expected to plan activities that are inclusive and positive for all residents of their respective houses.

Leadership ethics

The leader must recognize his or her responsibilities as the role model for the group. A leader's standard of ethics should be established from the beginning of his or her term, maintained and evaluated periodically. The standards of ethics should be based on respect for and protection of the group members. With this in mind, the leader should also be concerned with ethical standards for his or her committee and the house as a whole. Standards to observe as a group leader are:

  • Maintaining and agreeing upon a high code of standards
  • Maintaining confidentiality as appropriate
  • Respecting the integrity and protecting the physical and emotional welfare of your students
  • Respecting the convictions and values of the group
  • Handling house dues and house revenue with integrity
