International Nursing Placements 2011-2012
Students in the 4 year Bachelor of Nursing program are eligible to apply to complete a Nursing Placement in Sweden, Norway or Malawi.
Prerequisites:
- All students must complete the UNB, Faculty of Nursing “Application for International Student Clinical/Course Exchanges”

SWEDEN
Between 2 and 4 second year students are selected to complete their Intersession Concentrated Clinical Practicum I, Nursing 2063 (108 hours) in mental health or chronic illness in Umea, Sweden.
Students spend 5-6 weeks in Sweden. Approximate total cost of this exchange is $2,500 for flight, lodging and food.
A committee in the Faculty of Nursing will decide on which students will be selected for the placements in Sweden.
Application deadline is June 1, of each year.

NORWAY
2 third year students are selected to go to Norway for 3 weeks in June to take the 3-credit course - Global Health and Cultural Awareness at Bergen University College. Students need to have completed third year. Students from all over Europe come to Norway to complete this course. Approximate total cost of this exchange is $3,000 for flight, lodging and food.
A committee in the Faculty of Nursing will decide on which students will be selected for the placements in Norway.
Application deadline is September 30, of each year.

MALAWI
A maximum of 3 Nursing students will be selected to go to Malawi for 3 months (June, July and August) to promote Health Education. In order to be eligible students need to complete their third year of Nursing. These students will be working under the direction of Veronica McGinn, Project Manager of Center for Property Studies. This program will be funded by CIDA for the next 5 years. Approximate cost for the student is minimal ($500).
A committee in the Faculty of Nursing and Veronica McGinn, Project Manager for Center for Property Studies, will decide on which students will be selected for Malawi.
