The UNB Mental Health and the Law Society will host a symposium
entitled "Linking Minds for Justice" on mental health education and advocacy on
Friday, Feb. 12 at the University of New Brunswick law school's Ludlow Hall,
Room 2a/2b. The day-long symposium runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features
two panels, one on advocacy entitled "Exposing the Invisible - Law Reform
Issues and Over-Representation", and another on education entitled "Breaking
Myths - Perspectives from Various Professions".
Guest speakers for the event include keynote speaker (via teleconference) Daniel T. Lukasik, Esq., senior partner in a New York firm and creator of www.lawyerswithdepression.com; Judge Michael McKee, author of Together Into The Future, a report on the state of mental healthcare in New Brunswick; H.A. (Archie) Kaiser, a professor at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University; and Mark Henick, president of the St. Thomas University students' union and the New Brunswick chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Registration for the symposium gets under way at 10 a.m. There is a registration fee of $10 per person. Lunch will be served from 12 to 1 p.m. Please RSVP to unbmhls@gmail.com before February 5th, 2010.
This conference is approved by the Law Society of New Brunswick for 5 hours of Continued Legal Education.
