Viscount Bennett Lecture — Mr. Justice Ian Binnie

Ian BinnieOn October 5th, 2006, the UNB Faculty of Law was pleased to host Mr. Justice Ian Binnie of the Supreme Court of Canada as the guest speaker for the 28th Annual Viscount Bennett Lecture. Speaking to a full room of students, faculty and members of the local bar and bench, Justice Binnie spoke on the changes in the role of science in the courtroom as he has observed over the course of his esteemed career as a litigator and as a judge.

In conjunction with the Viscount Bennett Lecture, UNB Faculty of Law hosted a panel discussion on October 6th entitled "Reflecting on our Changing Profession". Panel members were Mr. Justice Ian Binnie, G. Robert Basque, Q.C., President of the Law Society of New Brunswick and partner at Forbes Roth Basque, Susan Borsic-Drummond, associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and Mel Norton, Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Canadian Bar Association, New Brunswick Branch and associate at Lawson & Creamer. UNB Law professors Aloke Chatterjee and Jula Hughes chaired the discussion.
