Professor Carissima Mathen Receives Young Scholars Award
The UNB Faculty of Law congratulates Professor Carissima Mathen who has been awarded the 2006 Harrison McCain Foundation Young Scholars Award for her project entitled "Louise Arbour in Theory and Practice". This award was created by the Harrison McCain Foundation to support young faculty at the University of New Brunswick.
"Louise Arbour has had an extraordinarily varied career. Her 2004 departure from the Supreme Court presents an opportunity to canvass her contributions to the law," Professor Mathen says. "My project will focus on her work in three areas: criminal law and fundamental justice; equality and discrimination; and women in law and society."
Professor Mathen, a member of the Faculty of Law since 2002, teaches Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and US Constitutional Law.
