Donald Fleming

Donald J. Fleming, BA (Mount Allison), LLB (UNB), LLB [International Law] (Cantab), called to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1975.

His primary teaching interests are subjects of public international law, trade law, humanitarian law and torts law. Professor Fleming has acted as counsel for government and aboriginal groups and has published primarily on international law and international human rights law.

Professor Fleming is on the Roster for NAFTA Chapter 19 Binational Panels and is currently serving a two-year term (Oct 2004 – Oct 2006) as President (elect) of the Canadian Council on International Law.

The Government of Canada awarded Professor Fleming the 125th Anniversary Commemorative Medal in 1993 for his contribution to human rights. He also received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.
