Pro Bono Students Canada

The oath that lawyers take when admitted to the bar compels them to work for greater justice. This does not mean that they work only for justice when they get paid, but perhaps more idealistically, that they work to create a more just society.

–The Honourable Mr. Justice John C. Major

Pro Bono Students Canada is a national organization founded in 1996 at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Since then, PBSC has established local branches in all twenty Canadian law schools, including the local branch that has served the Fredericton community for more than a decade. Over the years, students from the University of New Brunswick program have completed a wide array of projects with local public interest and non-profit organizations, tribunals, government bodies, and lawyers doing pro bono work. The commitment and hard work of our students have made PBSC a key component of the local public interest and legal communities.

We welcome your interest in and support for our program; if you are interested in getting involved with Pro Bono Students Canada, we are currently accepting both student and organization applications for the 2013-2014 academic year.

PBSC UNB is grateful for the support we receive from the New Brunswick Law Foundation and UNB Law School.  PBSC is a national organization that also receives generous funding from the Law Foundation of Ontario, McCarthy Tétrault LLP and Westlaw Canada.
