2011-2012 Articling and Placement Commitee and Clea Ward
UNB Law recognizes that "getting a job" is of primary concern to its students. The Career Services Office (CSO) provides assistance and support to students in their pursuit of fulfilling careers and has an excellent placement record. In the last several years, over 90% of UNB Law students who wish to article have found placements.
The CSO is run by a graduate from UNB Law, working with the student-run Articling and Placement Committee. The CSO offers career counseling and advice, conducts resumé and interview workshops and seminars, holds information sessions on the various job markets and develops career development materials to assist students in their job searches.
The CSO also organizes two Career Fairs - one in the fall where private sector legal employers come to the law school to speak to students about their respective organizations and upcoming employment opportunities and a public sector panel event in the spring where representatives from all levels of government as well as from NGO's, trade unions, boards, tribunals and commissions come to speak to students about non-private practise related employment opportunities for law graduates.
As well, CSO coordinates interview weekends where law firms from various parts of the country come to the law school to interview students for summer and articling positions.
