Services Offered
WSTC provides a broad range of services to its clients in the areas of:
R&D is a key function of WSTC. WSTC has, under the constructive guidance of its Advisory Board, the faculty and the university, established the following research programs: timber structural engineering, bio-resources and products, bio-energy, wood adhesives and composites, wood deterioration and wood modification.
WSTC specializes in wood product testing and is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a test laboratory for specific tests on wood products. WSTC is recognized by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre and the International Council for Building Research Studies and Documentation. The centre is also approved for evaluation of kilns under Canadian Food Inspection Agency's Heat Treatment Program for wood products.
WSTC is also capable of testing bio-fuels and bio-fuels appliances through its subsidiary Canadian BioEnergy Centre (CBEC).
WSTC provides an Innovation Assistance Service to incorporated small to medium size Canadian companies on matters relating to wood products. Through the National Research Council's Industrial Research Assistance Program's (NRC-IRAP) network member agreement, this service gives access to WSTC staff or associates on a specific industrial research projects.
