CBEC operates with a mandate to provide technological support to the bio-energy sector in Canada and beyond. Our mandate is to promote the sustainable and responsible use of our forest and agricultural bio-resources for a diversity of goods and services through applied research, engineering, technology and education. Our four primary functions are:

• Research and development
• Product testing and certification (e.g. fuel pellets and bio-mass combustion appliances)
• Technology transfer
• Training and education
