MF/MFE program

General (tentative) guidelines

Every MF/MFE candidate is required to:

1. Work with your supervisor in organizing an Advisory Committee. An advisory committee will have a maximum of 3 members. Members must be part of the GAU.

2. Meet with the advisory committee (within the first term) to design a plan of study and discuss project report topic;

3. Submit a graduate project/research-study plan (GF3001-04) within 1 month of enrollment;

4. Develop a written project proposal and submit to Advisory Committee for approval (GF3014) within 3 months of the program – (follow the SGS regulations for thesis guidelines Regulations and Guidelines for the Preparation and Submission of Graduate Theses and Reports available on SGS web site - http://www.unb.ca/gradschl/guidelines/index.html - revised cover pg enclosed);

5. Complete 30 credit hours, with a grade of ‘B’ or better in each class. Required courses are: MF Report (FOR6996) or MFE Report (FOR6994) (6 cr hrs), Research Methods (FOR6913)(3 cr hrs) and Graduate Seminar (FOR6900) (3 cr hrs). The remaining courses (minimum 18 credit hours) are established by the advisory committee and approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.

6. Complete an annual SGS progress report (GF3012) and submit to DoGS by July 31st, of each year of enrollment;

7. Develop and write a project report. Format must follow regulations of School of Graduate Studies for reports and theses.

8. Present a draft(s) of project report to the Advisory Committee;

9. Obtain acceptance of the project report by the Advisory Committee (GF3006) to proceed to examination.

10. Submit project report to DoGS for format approval (checklist for students submitting final copies enclosed);

11. Orally present and defend project report to the University Community; Examiners will be the Advisory Committee.  Defense will be chaired by DoGS or alternate.  Final approval on the report is decided by Advisory Committee after the examination

12. Submit the final copies of the project report and associated paper work to SGS.

To complete fulfillment of degree requirements and to clear the way for approval at higher university levels. It is the student's responsibility to make certain that the documentation is completed and signed, the required number of copies of the reports are made and everything is delivered to the Graduate School within the deadline date set by the Graduate School for graduation
