Recruitment

Scouts in the woodlot

Our faculty is actively involved with student recruitment, alumni relations, marketing, publicity, student orientation, and summer, co-op and permanent job placement. Outreach Coordinator Yolanda Spithoven and a team of UNB undergraduate and graduate students visit schools in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to conduct in-class workshops with students to make them more aware of what forestry/forest engineering is all about. Our students, alumni and faculty are all involved! The goal is to continually improve our recruitment efforts. Recommendations on how to improve our outreach program are welcome!

Students at the high school level need to know more about forestry and forest engineering programs to make UNB FOREM the faculty of choice. If you, as an alumnus, have a few minutes to drop off a package of information about our programs to a school in your area we would be extremely grateful. Our information package contains the latest edition of the forestry student handbook, a poster of the UNB campus and a PowerPoint presentation. Contact Yolanda if you would like a package for a school near you or to have a PowerPoint presentation about our faculty sent to you on a CD.
