Intent

To determine services provided and procedures for obtaining assistance in case of medical emergency.

Scope

All persons.

Services

  • The University Student Health Centre provides a health service for students as well as emergency first aid for students injured on campus. It is recommended that any medical emergency involving students or employees be transported directly to the emergency room of the local hospital.
  • The Security & Traffic section will provide emergency transportation, when necessary, for persons who are immobilized as a result of injury or illness while on campus, or make the necessary arrangements for ambulance pick-up.

Procedures

  • Transportation, or first aid assistance, may be obtained by calling the Security Office and describing the situation to the officer on duty.
  • The officer will dispatch the Security vehicle or a police cruiser to provide the necessary assistance.
  • Fire prevention officers, police officers, or security officers will call for an ambulance when necessary.
  • Transportation from the campus to the home of employees injured on campus may be arranged through the Security Office if necessary.
