Courses @ JHSC
As you work towards your TME diploma, a number of flexible course options are available. Whether TME classroom courses in the evening, online courses, or electives from other departments, you'll find information here about what courses and combinations might work for you.
Diploma Course Requirements
The TME program will give you essential skills in three core areas: business management, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. You must have at least 80 credit hours in an applicable program of study to enroll in any TME courses. Although our program is part of the Faculty of Engineering, you do not have to be an engineering student to take TME courses.
The TME diploma program consists of eight courses and requires completion of five for a total of 15 credit hours. If you are an undergraduate student, you can earn the diploma concurrent with your degree program by choosing TME courses as electives. If you are a working professional, you can take all five courses over two semesters or take the courses – taught mainly in the evenings – over an extended period of time. Some courses are also available online through the College of Extended Learning at the UNB Fredericton campus.
You can choose which courses fit your needs and interests. Of the five core courses, three of the following are compulsory:
- TME 3013: Entrepreneurial Finance
- TME 3113: Business Planning and Strategy in an Entrepreneurial Environment
- TME 3213: Quality Management
- TME 3313: Managing Engineering and Information Technology Projects
- TME 3413: Technological Creativity and Innovation
- TME 3423: Technological Risk and Opportunity
You can choose the remaining two elective courses from the list above or to suit a specific business interest such as marketing, organizational behaviour, finance, public works administration or construction management.
You can also choose from TME elective courses listed below:
- TME 1001: Introduction to Technology Management & Entrepreneurship
- TME 3346: Marketing of Technological Goods and Services
- TME 3913: Experiential Learning - Technology Management and Entrepreneurship
