Graduate Studies

The department offers programs leading to the degrees of MEng, MScE and PhD.

Graduate programs in biomedical engineering and nuclear engineering, in association, respectively, with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering are also provided.

To be admitted to graduate studies in the department, an applicant must have an excellent academic record from a recognized university.  An applicant is admitted to the Graduate Program only if a faculty member, who specializes in the applicant's area of intended research, is prepared to supervise his/her research project.  Initiate contact with a faculty member and establish if a position is available, then submit the pre-application form.

Current active research topics of the faculty members are described in the faculty home pages.

Programs of Study

MEng -  The MEng program is course based and does not involve a research thesis.  Ten courses are required to be taken during the degree.  The MEng program is student funded (i.e. no financial assistance is provided).  Students accepted are supervised by the Director of Graduate Studies during their period of study.  Students do not have to arrange for a supervisor as there is no research component to their studies.

MScE and PhD -  Both are research based and require a thesis supervisor.  Financial assistance is possible.
