| Number | Up to 5 awards per term in each of the Fall and Winter Terms |
| Eligibility | Full-time students registered in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick who have a CGPA of 3.2 or higher and have completed approximately 90 credit hours or more are eligible to apply. |
| Tenable | Awards are tenable at the University of New Brunswick, Department of Civil Engineering. Students may apply for an award for any term in which they are eligible, however, a student can receive no more than one Esterbauer Undergraduate Assistantship per academic year. |
| Selection Criteria | Awards will be granted on the basis of academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in academic research. Preference may be given to students enrolled in the CE 5943 Research Thesis course. |
| Other Conditions | Recipients are expected to spend approximately six hours/week on a research project approved by the Department of Civil Engineering and to present the results of their research at the end of the term. |
