Your engineering co-op experience
Here you will find important program dates, documents and links that will guide you during through the various stages of your engineering co-op experience.
The initial steps of you becoming a member of the co-op program
- You must meet the co-op program entrance requirements (undergraduate students)
- Apply to become a member of the engineering co-op program through the co-op portal
- Carefully review the co-op recruitment process dates
- Upon acceptance into the co-op program, participate in one of the preparatory workshops. You will be introduced to cover letter writing, resume development, and interviewing techniques.
Your application for a co-op position
- Review the co-op preparatory workshop slides (contact the Co-op office in order to obtain the most recent set of slides) and, if required, update your cover letter and resume.
- Review the co-op opportunities through the co-op portal.
- For each of the co-op opportunities of interest to you, and prior to the job closing deadline, upload your up-to-date cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcript (all in PDF format) through the co-op portal.
Prior to you going out on a co-op placement
- Participate in one of the work term preparation workshops (contact the Co-op office in order to obtain the most recent set of slides).
- If required, review your course registration for the study term that will follow your co-op work term.
During your co-op placement
- UNB Student Union Health and Dental Plan -- contact +1 506 452-6094 if you have any questions or concerns about your health and dental plans.
- Co-op work term fee payment options -- all fees are to be paid before the second month of the work term. Late payments could be subject to penalty and interest fees. Contact Jennifer Mazerolle (+1 506 458 7177) in Financial Services regarding payment inquiries.
- Work term evaluation -- employer provides feedback on the student's performance -- ask the employer complete the form prior to you leaving the company; submit the completed form to the Engineering Co-op office within two weeks after you have returned to UNB.
- APEGNB MIT/EIT Logbook (template) -- this is usually being submitted to APEGNB with your EIT registration. Your engineering supervisor will have to verify the record of work.
- APEGNB MIT/EIT Progress Report (template) -- this is usually being submitted to APEGNB with your EIT registration. Your engineering supervisor will have to sign off the progress report form.
- APEGNB Progress Report and Logbook example (provided by APEGNB) -- review this document prior to you working on your logbook and the progress report.
After returning back to UNB
- Schedule an appointment with the co-op office for a work term debriefing session.
