A Career-focused Approach

Co-operative Engineering Education

Did you know that the University of New Brunswick Engineering has a co-op program that can help you test drive potential careers in engineering?

  • After joining the co-op program we will challenge you to think about your professional and personal interests. You will start to discover your key skills and explore what is important to you. The answers to these questions will help you determine which of the many co-op opportunities are right for you. Of course, we are there to guide you through this process.
  • Active participation in co-op program will expose you to a professional work environment. This will provide you with opportunities to apply the theory studied in the classroom to the workplace. Upon return to UNB you will apply the knowledge acquired in the workplace to your current studies. This process will allow you to evaluate your career interests.

The co-op employers allow the workplace to become an extension of classroom and laboratory instructions. And, as such, the co-op experience adds a unique dimension to your professional training. The co-op program will aid you in the preparation for entering your chosen engineering career. Our co-op students are excited about the professional opportunities that they are being placed in. For example, meet Jessica, who has spent a work term at Suncor's MacKay River In-Situ facility.
