In 1964, the New Brunswick Teacher's College (the old provincial Normal School), was relocated on the UNB Fredericton campus, and eventually incorporated into the Faculty of Education in 1973.
The Education program at UNB offers you the chance to take more courses in specialized areas of interest more than most universities, while still maintaining some diversification.
We have over 35 faculty members and associates, and 11 staff members. Our faculty regularly works with teachers, and has been instrumental in writing many of the curriculum documents for the province of New Brunswick, as well as textbooks used across Canada.
Our faculty provides a rich academic and professional environment in which you can learn. Since 1975, the faculty has contracted with a number of agencies for the delivery of educational projects in Kenya, Bhutan and Trinidad.
The faculty of Education is partnered with several externally funded research centre's which are housed in the Faculty. These centres include: The Early Childhood Education Centre, The Mi'kmaq-Maliseet Institute, Health & Education Research Group (HERG), Second Language Research Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy.
