The Faculty of Computer
Science (FCS) at the University of New Brunswick's Fredericton Campus was the
first computer science faculty in Canada.
Our Graduate programs are accredited by the Canadian Information Processing Society, one of the few Faculties with this distinction in Canada.
We have 21 full-time Faculty including a Canada Research Chair in Adaptive Information Infrastructures. The Faculty has more than 20 research and instructional laboratories, in which research and instruction in many areas of computer science is undertaken.
UNB Fredericton also shares its campus with Canada's leading IT research organization: The National Research Council's Institute for Information Technology.
Topics for research and instruction at UNB include: computer hardware, software engineering, embedded systems, e-Busines, e-Learning, security, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, computer assisted drug design, high performance computing, web services and other areas.
At present the total research funding for the Faculty is approximately $10 million from NSERC, CFI, AIF, NBIF and other sources.
