Goals of the Program

The primary goal of the Diploma in University Teaching is to help participating graduate students, faculty members and contract instructors develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to become better teachers.  In this course we will examine key areas of the teaching profession including:  understanding our students, course planning, teaching methods, and assessment of teaching and learning.

The course is delivered in a workshop type format where you will have the opportunity to work with your colleagues, teach and get detailed feedback to help you improve.  You will end this course with more tools, skills and knowledge about teaching.  You will also be more confident as a teacher.

Eligibility

The Diploma in University Teaching is open to all full– and part-time faculty members and contract instructors, and to all registered full– and part-time graduate students.  Non-UNB persons wishing to participate in the course will be required to pay $586.00 (based on UNB course fees).  As enrolment is limited, graduate students, new faculty and contract instructors will be given first preference.
