Special Conditions

While most equipment falls under the general borrowing policies, for some equipment, in order to ensure that the equipment gets the most effective use, special conditions apply.

Portable Video/Data Projectors

  • Maximum borrow/rental period is two working days.
  • Available to students for academic purposes only.
  • All users must receive training from CETL before borrowing.
  • Newer models of data projectors may not be booked for use off-campus.
  • Older model projectors may be booked for off-campus use.
  • If a unit is booked for off-campus use, the user must purchase insurance by contacting CETL administrative support at 453-4704.

Installed Video/Data Projectors

Laptop Computers

  • Due to security reasons, laptops cannot be delivered directly to the classroom.  They must be picked up at the CETL Equipment Pool prior to use.
  • Due to the limited amount of available laptops, some restrictions may apply.
  • Students - Student laptops are funded through the Student Technology Fee.  We currently supply 16 laptops (12 PC, 4 MAC) that are available for both short-term (3 days) or long-term (1 week) loan.  These laptops may only be signed out by UNB students.
  • Faculty/Instructors - We currently supply 4 laptops (all PC) that are available for Faculty/Instructor use.  These laptops are available for teaching and learning purposes only, and can be borrowed for a 3 day period only.  Please note these laptops cannot be signed out for the term.
  • Staff/Other Employees - Staff or other employees whom require a loaner laptop must contact their Department or Faculty.

HD Camcorders

  • Maximum borrow or rental period of 3 days.
  • The Sony HDRFX-1000 is reserved solely for Multimedia Students.

Cassette Tape Recorders

  • Maximum borrow or rental period is one week.

Audio Conferencing Units

  • Audio conferencing units available to UNB Faculty/Staff only.
  • Currently our audio conferencing units do not function on the UNB VoIP network.
  • A traditional telephone line is required for these units to function.
