If you are considering upgrading a room that your department controls to make it into a Smart Classroom, the first step is to consult our Classroom Support Manager, Kevin McDonough at 458-7664. Kevin will meet with you to go over your needs and expectations and will provide you with suggestions and options. He will also facilitate the involvement of Facilities Management and can provide you with equipment pricing.
Please understand that the timelines for designing and installing a Smart Classroom are not short. They are governed by the ability to access the room with consideration to Facilities Management and the CETL technical team schedules. Since rooms typically are not accessible for installation work during the school term, most Smart Classroom projects have been accomplished during the summer months. Unfortunately, that is usually the busiest season for both the trades people and the Projects Team at the Facilities Management, which limits the number of installations that can be accommodated. Your Smart Classroom installation would be greatly expedited if you could arrange access to the room during the school year.
CETL does not charge for Smart Classroom planning, design, and support, however, in some cases there may be charges for the actual physical installation process on a case by case basis. This charge will be included in the cost estimates.
