Training

CETL can provide training in the use of any of the Registrar managed and booked Smart Classrooms on campus. You can schedule individual or group training sessions in the room you plan to use. Training reservations need to be made well in advance. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required, but longer lead times increase the probability that we will be able to accommodate your requests and your schedule.

Please note: training in the use of a Smart Classroom is required before you can sign out a key for that room.

Please contact the main Equipment Pool at 458-7662 for further information or to schedule training for a specific room.

Confirmation from our Equipment Pool staff is required before you may consider that any equipment training request is actually scheduled.

AV Equipment

1-on-1 or group training in the use of CETL's audio-visual equipment can be arranged for Faculty, Staff, or Students.  Training is required before audio-visual equipment can be booked out to individuals.  If you have not been trained in the use of the equipment that you are planning to reserve, please arrange for training when you book the equipment.

Smart Classroom Systems

CETL requires that instructors receive training on the use of installed technology in any classroom booked through the Equipment Pool.  This training must be completed before CETL provides the key necessary to access the technology.  This training may be obtained through a scheduled 1-on-1 session with the Equipment Pool staff.  Some training is also offered on a regular basis in a classroom style setting.  Check the CETL Events Calendar for upcoming sessions.

Videoconferencing Units

Training for the MacLaggan Hall 015 videoconference classroom must be arranged through CETL prior to first-time use. Training usually takes place before the start of the course and can range from ½ to 3 hours depending on what equipment the user expects to employ when teaching the course.

It is highly recommended a student operator be trained to assist the instructor for each class. Operator costs will be the individual department's responsibility. See the Student Operators (Hourly charge) page for more information on using student operators.

Only basic training is required for the EMC126 boardroom since CETL staff will assist in setting up the call. The user simply needs to control the camera and sound.

Interactive Whiteboards

Interactive Whiteboard training is provided through the CETL Media Lab.
