Access to Smart Classrooms
Most Smart Classrooms require a physical key or keycode to access the console or lock box equipment. Arrangements for key sign-out should be made well in advance of your class by contacting the CETL Equipment Pool.
These keys are unique to each room so the instructor should sign out the key for the specific Smart Classroom to which they require access to the installed technology. When the key is picked up the instructor will be required to sign a form agreeing to return the key when specified and to acknowledge that their department will be billed $100 if they lose the key or fail to return it by the due date.
Policies regarding keys are:
- Training is required before a key can be signed out for any Smart Classroom.
- Keys may be signed out for one-time use or for a maximum of one term.
- Auditorium equipment keys may be signed out to students and student groups who have successfully completed CETL provided training on the equipment.
- Keys must be returned after the class or promptly the following morning for an evening event to be available for the next customer.
- A substantial levy of $100.00 will be charged for the failure to return a key. This fee is to cover the cost of re-keying the affected locks.
