Prepare for a specialized career in quantitative investing with the University of New Brunswick’s one-of-a-kind Master of Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM).

Our innovative, one-year graduate degree gives you marketable, high-value career skills to propel you into this new era of investment management that combines finance, economics, mathematics, data analysis and coding.

Our one-year program runs from August to July. Courses are taught by financial experts from both the investment industry and UNB faculty.

High-value career skills

Quantitative investment management pulls together tools from finance, economics, applied mathematics and computer programs. Quantitative investors — “quants” — combine skills from these disciplines to analyze data and make wiser, safer investment decisions.

Graduates will be able to address problems in derivative securities valuation, dynamic investment strategies and risk management. You could work for pension funds, hedge funds, commercial banks, investment banks, investment consulting firms, financial software suppliers, tech startups or any companies that require employees to analyze data.

“MQIM grads would be well placed to succeed in quantitaitve investment and risk management roles at firms such as the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (in addition to other large Canadian pension plans and asset managers)," says Jon Spinney, chief investment officer and vice president quantitative investing, Vestcore Investment Management Corporation.
