Prizes and Awards
FNBFA Status of Women Essay Prizes
Submissions are invited for consideration for the annual FNBFA Status of Women Essay Prizes. Two prizes, each valued at $250.00, are to be awarded. The first is to a student in the first or second year of undergraduate studies. The second scholarship is for a student in the third or subsequent years.
Essays are judged on the following criteria:
a) relevance to feminism
b) style and organization
c) documentation and research approach
For an essay to be considered, it should be recommended by the professor teaching the course for which the paper was written and forwarded directly to the FNBFA. Papers should be sent to:

Mary Tibbits Award. $125. Donated by alumna Judith Grant; for a graduating Women's Studies student who makes a special contribution to a women's organization, or through her/his studies. Application must be submitted by a professor. Mail to :

Dr. Vicky Gray Memorial Award. $650. Established by family and friends of this co-founder of Women’s Studies at UNB; open to UNBF students normally entering the final year of a degree program who have a continuing interest in Women’s Studies. Submit application to Dr. Gillian Thompson.
FNBFA Status of Women Prize. $250. Open to New Brunswick undergraduates; for an outstanding essay (in any field) showing awareness of feminist issues. Application must be submitted by a professor. Mail to :
