Areas of Interest and Expertise

General areas of research strength within the Department of Sociology include: media and communication; family and domestic violence, health, healthcare, health policy, cultural sociology, and population studies.

On-going research in the department reflects a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research strategies and our theoretic and methodological traditions are open to new epistemological perspectives where we explore new avenues for productive research and teaching.

Please see the Department of Sociology Graduate Handbook and the Staff & Faculty page of this web site for details of individual faculty member’s areas of expertise, and to investigate who might most effectively supervise your thesis work.

In addition, browsing a list of the titles of theses and dissertations  supervised in the department will give you an idea of the range of research that has been conducted by graduate students in Sociology at UNB.
