Brian Clancy (PhD, University of Western Ontario)

Brian Clancy is a public school teacher in the Sussex area and teaches part-time with the department of history. He holds a PhD in history from the University of Western Ontario. His dissertation is titled: “A Time for Change: Clark Clifford and the Struggle to End the War in Vietnam, 1965-1968.” His work received research grants from the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, the Harry Truman Presidential Library, and the White House Historical Society. Dr. Clancy has contributed a number of book reviews and short essays for H-Diplo, the Canadian Military History Book Supplement, the Encyclopedia of African American History 1896-Present: From the Age of Segregation to the 21st Century, ABC-CLIO Military History Series, The United States at War—Project 2007, and Passport. He has presented several papers to the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations and the American Historical Association. Dr. Clancy has a special passion for teaching; indeed he holds two teaching awards from the University of Western Ontario, as well as multiple nominations for the Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching at UNB. In addition, Dr. Clancy served a three-year term with the SHAFR Teaching Committee. Brian’s teaching interests include the Vietnam War, U.S. Foreign Relations, and twentieth century American history.
