Drama at UNB

Learn, perform and live your passion

Whether you’re an experienced performer looking to broaden your skills and knowledge on the way to a career as an actor, technician or drama teacher, or a beginner looking to have some fun and make your stage debut while earning course credits, we have a place for you on our stage.

Drama courses at every level

You can enroll in three different degree programs in drama:

A unique, comprehensive approach to training

Our graduates are especially well rounded in all theatre disciplines, making our program ideal for those interested in teaching drama or planning to continue their involvement at an amateur or professional level.

All students proceeding to our second and third-year classes learn the fundamentals of acting while also receiving training in directing, set design and construction and lighting and sound design and techniques. Students most interested in the technical theatre disciplines can receive specialized training as stage managers and technicians.

High-calibre productions as the ultimate teaching tool

Our performance company, Theatre UNB, stages multiple productions annually, allowing our students more guaranteed performance opportunities than any school in the region.

Theatre UNB is active year-round, with opportunities for students to get involved in summer theatre productions staged in partnership with both Bard in the Barracks, a Fredericton theatre company that stages outdoor productions of the works of William Shakespeare and NotaBle Acts Theatre Company, which produces a festival of new plays by New Brunswick writers every July.

Choosing drama at UNB also gives you access to attractive scholarships, experienced and personable faculty and excellent facilities.

The UNB Drama program is housed within the Department of English.
