MA Creative Thesis Defense for Patricia Robinson

Title: “Of Proprioception”

The poems in “Of Proprioception” explore the suggestive concept of “space” and its discernment through the senses. “Proprioception” as a process of sensory orientation lends a concrete framework through which to engage a theory of poetry that is sensitive to the politics of navigating foreign space, engaging leading ecological thinkers Jan Zwicky, Don McKay, Dennis Lee and Timothy Morton. As a medium for geographic, linguistic, ontological and phenomenological orientation, the poems in this collection explore the “space” poetry crafts with language in relation to the physical “space” the body and mind intuit.

Students, faculty, staff, and the public are welcome!
