"Testifying on One’s Own Behalf": Academic Women Writing Academic Life

One hundred years after Carrie Derick at McGill became Canada's first female full professor, men still hold over three-quarters of full professorships and top research positions across the country, as the new report Strengthening Canada's Research Capacity: The Gender Dimension (November 2012) documents. One of the report's co-authors, Dr. Wendy Robbins, a professor of English and Women's Studies at UNBF, explores what contemporary Canadian academic life-writing reveals about women's experiences of university careers and the changes that are urgently needed.
