Student Funding 2013-2014

We are happy to announce that the following Anthropology students have received funding for the 2013-2014 academic year.

- Ms. Tracey Brown a new MA student starting in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. K Mitra has received SSHRC funding via Dr. Mitra and a tuition grant from the Department of Anthropology for their research in Indonesia.

- Ms. Siobhan Carlson a new MA student in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. S. Blair has received a tuition grant from the Department of Anthropology for her research on shell middens.

- Ms. Robin Messenger a new MA student in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. M. Wiber has received a Master's scholarship from the Canadian Fisheries Research Network for her research in fisheries and a tuition grant from the Department of Anthropology.

- Ms. Anne Rudzinski a new MA student starting in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. V Gibbon has received Graduate Research Assistantship through the University of New Brunswick for her research in Biological Anthropology.

- Mr. Neil Brewer an MA student in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. E Plaice has received a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship to finish off his MA thesis entitled " 'Education Fever' in New Brunswick: The Transnational Strategies of South Korean 'Wild Geese' Families".

- Mr. Michael Rooney an MA student in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Dr. S. Blair has received NSERC through Dr. Blair and the Maecenas graduate scholarship from the University of New Brunswick for his research on human-fish interaction in the archaeological record.

- Mr. Jesse Webb an MA student in the Department of Anthropology is receiving funding through the Ocean Tracking Network Canada and NSERC through Dr. Blair to conduct research on Atlantic Sturgeon.

- Ms. Courtenay Parlee a PhD student in the interdisciplinary PhD program at UNB supervised by Dr. M Wiber in Anthropology has received a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship for her research entitled "Resolving Conflict Over Risk Management in the Marine Environment: Strengthening Governance Institutions".

- Ms. Tricia Jarratt a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary program at UNb has received the President's Doctoral Tuition Award to conduct research on the production of local knowledge through the lens of historic settlement along the lower Saint John River.
