ConfidentialityConfidentiality

Every effort is made at the PWC to maintain the confidentiality of client information.  However, because the PWC is a training centre all sessions will be video-taped and viewed only by the student therapist and supervising psychologist in order to provide feedback to the student therapists.  Students working at the PWC are required to sign a confidentiality agreement when they begin their placement.  Client files are kept in a locked cabinet and are only accessed by those individuals involved.  Information about therapy or assessment will not be released to a third party without consent of the client or parent/guardian.  There are a few situations when confidentiality may have to be breeched due to legal or ethical considerations.

These include the following:

  1. If clients present as a danger to themselves or others
  2. If a child is possibly being abused or neglected
  3. If there is a court order requiring the release of information
  4. If there is a report of sexual abuse by another regulated health professional
