Dr. Carmen Gill is the Director of the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence Research and is cross-appointed as a Professor of sociology. Her areas of expertise are in the fields of family, social policy, third sector and violence against women. She is involved in different SSHRC-funded research projects. They are related to human service delivery by the nonprofit sector as well as on the community and justice response to family violence. Since her arrival in 2004, Dr. Gill has developed diverse research initiatives related to violence against women and children. Carmen Gill holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
