Dean’s welcome

What kind of teaching and research takes place in the Faculty of Arts? A better question might be, what doesn’t?

Arts at the University of New Brunswick is an innovative and diverse faculty with degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level in departments specializing in the humanities (including classics, culture and media studies, English, French, history, and philosophy), the social sciences (anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology), and interdisciplinary programs like gender and women’s studies, film studies, international development studies, and law in society.

Undergraduate programs

In arts, you can pursue one of 32 different subject areas as part of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Or, maybe a combined arts and science degree suits your interest, or both a BA and a Bachelor of Science degree at the same time. Want more options? How about earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Computer Science together? Or one of our certificate programs? Explore our many options

Graduate programs

If you already have a degree and are contemplating a graduate option, consider one of our many masters or doctoral programs. We have over 200 students studying at the graduate level, making a significant contribution to the wide array of research projects in arts, some of which take place at the many research centres housed in our faculty.

Travel the world

Connected to our community locally and provincially, the Faculty of Arts is also part of a vital network of scholars Canada-wide. But we also offer a global dimension: you can take part in international exchange opportunities around the world while pursuing your degree, or one of our travel study programs, which combines learning and travel abroad.

Our vision for the next five years

In winter 2023, our Faculty completed a new academic plan for 2023-2028. Emerging from years of collaboration and discussion, the plan charts a path forward for Arts and considers several of our most important opportunities and challenges. For more information, visit our blog.
