Muhammad Rashid joined the Faculty of Business Administration in 1985 and is a member of the Finance Area. He received UNB Merit Awards in 1989 and 2003 in recognition of his performance.

Prior to joining the Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Rashid was a senior financial analyst with the Government of Canada's Department of Finance. He has taught at Canadian and foreign universities, including Concordia University, the University of Western Ontario, and the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan. He has a record of extensive university level and external professional service and was Assistant Dean, Graduate and External Programs, (1989-1991); Assistant Dean, MBA, (1996-1997); and Associate Dean, Programs, (1997-1998).

His research interests are diverse and include investments, capital budgeting, financial markets and institutions, small business finance, corporate capital structure, dividend policy, credit policy, the “too-big-to-fail” problem, profit sharing and economic effects of remittances. He has published over forty journal articles or book chapters. His publications have appeared in journals such as Applied Economics, the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Economics Letter, Engineering Economist, Financial Review, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Mid-western Finance Association, the Midwestern Journal of Business & Economics, the Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, Corporate Ownership and Control, Business Review, Accounting and Taxation, Corporate Finance Review, Review of Business Research Papers, Journal of Comparative International Management and Global Economy and Finance Journal.
