CPS Project - Eastern Europe
Study on the Impact of Land Reform on Agriculture, Poverty Reduction and the Environment in Kyrgystan (GRM)
This six month impact study is funded by Asian Development Bank and carried out in collaboration with Rosnedvizjimost (Land Cadastre), represented by Mr. ViktorKislov, Deputy Head of Rosnedvizhijimost. The executing agency is GRM International Pty Ltd (Australia).
Dr. Sue Nichols was contracted as the Social and Gender Specialist for an international team of Land Administration Professional lead by Peter Bloch of Wisconsin. The primary objective of the team is to review the impacts of Land Reform on agriculture, poverty reduction and the environment in Kyrgystan.
Specific project components to be addressed by Dr. Nichols include:
- Gender and social impacts of the land reform process
- The impact on gender and poverty alleviation of reform policy, legislation, and redistribution
- Recommendations on reform impact on issues of governance, community participation, land rights and accessibility, & poverty reduction
Land Administration Gender Study, Russia (SwedeSurvey)
Dr. Sue Nichols has been contracted by Rosnedvizjimost, represented by Mr. Viktor Kislov, Deputy Head of Rosnedvizhijimost to lead a gender study in the land sector. The location of the place of work is Moscow, Russia
Kazakhstan Land Registration Project (World Bank)
With Dr. Sue Nichols as the lead, this project involved consultation to the World Bank over a three year period on land registration legislation and procedures, land surveying/mapping, and institutional issues associated with the proposed Land Registration Roll-out project for Kazakhstan. Part of the consultancy was development of an education and training program for land administrators (registration, surveying, and valuation)
