Summer School Opportunities

Do you want to study abroad, but only want to travel for a short period of time? Well, there is a growing number of summer school opportunities available through UNB, and some of the programs only run for a week!

Application

The application deadlines are continually changing with respect to the opportunities available each year. To apply, please view the application instructions.

Language of Instructionexchange

Many summer school opportunities provide both language courses and academic courses. There are also opportunities to study and be immersed in foreign cultural programs.

Credit Transfer

With the approval of your academic advisor, the university courses that you take at the host institution can count towards your UNB degree and are covered through your UNB tuition. Many of the courses are different from those offered at UNB Fredericton, so this is an opportunity for you to take courses that reflect your academic interest.

Planning your time Abroad

Summer School Exchanges run on the same principle as standard exchanges: tuition and fees are paid at UNB, no tuition is due at the host institution. However, the difference is that students pay tuition on a per course basis.

Some Partner Summer Schools are not part of the exchange agreement. In this case, tuition is paid to the host university and students need to request a letter of permission from the registar's office in order to participate.

All Accommodation and travel arrangements are the student's responsibility. However, there will be lots of support prior to leaving on your trip. With mandatory pre-departure workshops and other preparations we help to make sure that as much as possible is organized before you leave. Please visit the plan your term abroad page to gain additional knowledge on accommodations and travel arrangements.

Financial Assistance

Studying abroad on exchange may cost a bit more than staying in New Brunswick; however, as an exchange student you will be able to use any scholarships, bursaries, and student loan funding that you would normally have as a UNB student. You may also be eligible for a Student Abroad  Bursary, which will help your time abroad be as affordable as possible. Please visit the Financial Aid Office for more information on the Student Abroad Bursary. For additional cost inquiries visit the what does it cost page.
