Cinema Politica presents Last Chance-FR
The documentary Last Chance (84 min.) by Paul Émile d’Entremont (from NS) retraces the turbulent journeys of five people who flee their
native countries to escape homophobic violence. They come from Jamaica, Colombia, Lebanon, Egypt and Nicaragua, and are seeking asylum in Canada. They face hurdles integrating, fear deportation and nervously await a decision that will change their lives forever. One critic says: "The film also succeeds in breathing life into the challenge to preserve the refuge of Canadian society from the forces of narrow minded conservatism." The film's producer, Maryse Chapdelaine from the NFB, will be in attendance.
The film will screen Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 pm at Conserver House, 180 Saint John St., Fredericton. Films are free but donations are encouraged. Join us for an optional discussion after the film with
Matt Smith from AIDS New Brunswick. Co-hosts: Silverwave Film Festival and Aids New Brunswick. Cinema Politica Fredericton is shown with
continued support from UNB's Dept. of Culture & Language Studies and the Conservation Council of New Brunswick.
