... in our online institutional repository called DSpace!
The University of New Brunswick provides students with a process with which to submit and deposit their theses and dissertations (ETDs) electronically. The ETD process consists of a Four Step Process. Students can use templates to write their theses, submit files for review using an online thesis development system (TDS), convert their documents to PDF, and deposit a final and accepted electronic copy (in PDF and/or XML) for archiving and distribution in a DSpace institutional repository. This allows the student to focus on their content rather than spend countless hours on formatting and making it look right.
Start any time!
Do you want to be able to submit to DSpace but you're done writing? You can start the ETD process at any stage of your thesis development, even if you already have it completely written. To find out how, check our Already have most (or all) content written? section!
Guidelines
Theses that are submitted to the School of Graduate Studies electronically must be accompanied by at least one paper copy. Students who are NOT submitting theses or dissertations electronically MUST submit at least two paper copies, as outlined in the theses guidelines. The submission guidelines [PDF] from the School of Graduate Studies should also be read and understood by anyone electing to submit their theses/dissertation electronically.
Expand your options!
The goals of the UNB program are those of the broad ETD initiative and include: for universities to learn how to unlock the potential of their intellectual property and productions; for graduate education to improve through more effective sharing; for technology and knowledge sharing, as graduate research results become more readily and more completely available; for graduate students to learn about electronic publishing and digital libraries, applying that knowledge as they engage in their research and build and submit their own ETD; for universities to learn about digital libraries, as they collect, catalog, archive, and make ETDs accessible to scholars worldwide. The UNB ETD process is a collaboration between the Electronic Text Centre at UNB Libraries, the Graduate Student Association, the School of Graduate Studies, and ITS.
