Mission Statement
The Environment & Sustainable Development Research Centre supports sustainable resource management and development through applied integrated research; innovative environmental and experiential education; outreach in communities; and through mutually beneficial partnerships with a variety of actors.
Vision
Within five years, ESDRC will become a nationally recognized research centre, whose contributions to sustainable natural resource management and development are based on the integration of biophysical and socioeconomic approaches to problem solving; applied research; training young professionals to work in multidisciplinary teams and in a variety of settings; and dissemination of results in peer-reviewed and popular publications, and other media.
Goals
· Conduct applied research in sustainable development and integrated resource management
· Provide applied research internships for undergraduate and graduate students at UNB, and opportunities for young professionals to use and enhance their skills in interdisciplinary teams
· Establish international applied research partnerships that allow for reciprocal education and research opportunities for student interns and faculty
· Develop and deliver environmental and experiential education materials and courses
· Conduct regular events that provide opportunities to exchange information with communities of place and practice, and that raise the profile of ESDRC
· Establish and maintain productive partnerships that advance sustainable resource management and development practices.
