A forum in which Russian teachers explore ideas of democracy in their personal lives, in their civic lives as citizens in an emerging democracy, and in their responsibilities as teacher in shaping the civic education of children. The seminar / workshop will be a model for a civic education that will actively engage young people in addressing issues of life in a democratic society.

Seminar / workshops are to be held in Oryol, Samara and Moscow in the summer of 2001. Each on will involve approximately 30 Russian teachers currently in civic education work. The leaders will be Natalia Voskresenskaya and Andrei Ioffe from Russian team and Alan Sears and Mark Perry from the Canadian team.
