Beth Fairbairn is a professional administrator responsible for overseeing all facets of managing large and small grant-funded research programs at CRISP. Beth started working for the University of New Brunswick in 1987 as a library assistant while completing an Arts degree (English - '93), and has gone on to complete her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA - '97) degree, and earned a Masters Certificate in Project Management (2008), as well.
General responsibilities include:
- manage and oversee grant/contract deliverables, quality control and timelines
- staff relations and staff supervision (HR, hiring and personnel)
- communicate with academic researchers and administration, media representatives, and government officials on a local, national and international scale
- networking with senior scholars across Canada and internationally to provide overall leadership and front line response to program funding agencies, co-applicants and collaborators
- assist with grant preparation and writing
Beth has superior computer skills using MS Office, online bibliographic library tools, internet navigational tools and UNB’s internal systems; has strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated familiarity with writing in an academic environment. She possesses strong networking and social skills, and is able to maintain a collegial and calm demeanour under pressure. She is a creative and flexible problem-solver and thinker, and is adept at managing and forecasting budgetary requirements.
