General Knowledge in Psychology Project

Researchers: Donald Fields and Dan Hare- Project Approval #96-34

This study is part of a project on the development of a general test measuring conceptions about psychology. The following is a brief description of this project and a statement of your consent to participate. Should you have any questions prior to or aft er participating, please contact Dan Hare (dano@unb.ca) room 204J; or Donald Fields (fields@unb.ca) room K319.

The test comprises 30 multiple-choice and 15 True-False questions. You will also be asked to complete a short demographic questionnaire before beginning the quiz. After you submit the quiz, you will be provided feedback on each item as well as more information about the project

I understand that:

  1. this project involves the development of an experimental measure of general knowledge in psychology and that the test I am about to take may not be a reliable or valid measure of any specific psychological concept.
  2. the test items are experimental in nature and may not be good" items. I WILL NOT use my experience with these items to judge my knowledge in psychology, my general ability or my psychological well-being.
  3. if any item on these tests makes me feel uncomfortable or stressed I will contact either Dr. Fields or Dan Hare.
  4. I may choose not complete the study for any reason and still receive credit for my participation.
  5. I will be provided answers and page references from the Weiten textbook for each item. If I am confused about these questions or answers I will discuss them with my Instructor.
  6. The experimenters will be able to obtain all of my exam results.
  7. My scores will be kept confidential and my name will not be associated with any write-up or report resulting from this study.
