Welcome

"The good news is that the world is rapidly becoming e-interconnected. It's also the bad news if you're not one of the connectees. Find out why."

Welcome to the website of the 11th International Workshop on Telework. Following ten successful international workshops from 1996 to 2005, the International Telework Association (ITA) is pleased to announce that the University of New Brunswick (UNB) will host the eleventh event August 28–31, 2006 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. The workshop takes place in Canada’s first city to support a free urban wireless network and aims to generate interaction and the sharing of ideas among academic researchers and business practitioners around the development and maintenance of computer-mediated networks. The workshop program is designed with a blend of workshop sessions and social occasions so that participants have ample opportunity to meet and interact with keynotes, practitioners, and academic colleagues.

The theme of the 2006 workshop is E-Networks in an Increasingly Volatile World. The changing role of employment and government, the increasing rate of technological innovation and a growing concern for continuity through periods of large-scale interruptions resulting from natural, technological, and human-induced events are some of the factors behind a growing sense of uncertainty and social turbulence. A major challenge today is how individuals, organizations and regions can leverage human capital to collaborate through unprecedented and complex work/life-scenarios. This workshop looks specifically at examining work strategies that involve e-networks that contribute to greater preparedness, providing keynote speakers drawn from around the world who will address this issue. Workshop sessions will consist of papers that have been accepted by a review panel following a double-blind review process.
