Eastern Charlotte Waterways - Lab Technician
Position Summary:
Eastern Charlotte Waterways is a not for profit environmental organization featuring an ISO 17025 accredited microbiology laboratory. The organization is currently hiring a Laboratory Technician to assist the Laboratory Manager in the analysis of marine water samples for fecal coliforms. The position is full time and seasonal with the opportunity to expand to permanent status. The position is based in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, consists of 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday, and begins immediately.
Duties:
- Production of media for fecal coliform analysis of seawater.
- Ensuring confidentiality of testing
- Assisting with all laboratory QA/QC procedures.
- Conducting fecal coliform analysis of seawater (using the A1 direct medium method)
- Conducting total coliform and E. coli testing of drinking water (using the Colilert method)
- Ensuring that all documentation, systems, and equipment comply with the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard.
- General laboratory duties (cleaning, maintenance, ordering and receiving supplies, record keeping)
- Carrying out all activities safely, in accordance with the ECWL Safety Manual
- Laboratory expansion planning and business development.
- Carrying out the Laboratory Manager’s duties in his/her absence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B. Sc. or Laboratory Technologist diploma
- Experience performing analytical testing for bacteria
- Experience working with bacterial cultures and producing media
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures in a laboratory setting
- Data management experience
- Experience with laboratory equipment use and maintenance
- Experience establishing and maintaining SCC accreditation
- Able to work flexible hours
- Valid driver’s license
Details:
- The position is a full time seasonal position, from May until October.
- The position is based at ECW’s office, 881 Main Street, Blacks Harbour.
- Work will take place from Mon.- Fri.
- Flexibility will be required in the timing of the daily work schedule.
- Salary will be commensurate with experience

Cornerstone Psychological Services - Associate Psychologist
Cornerstone Psychological Services has a position available for a Registered Psychologist (or Candidate Register) to join our practice, located in the central and accessible West End of Halifax. At the present time, we are looking for a psychologist to join our team on a part-time basis with an aim of quickly building toward full-time work.
Qualifications:
- Full or Candidate Registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
- Experience/interest in couples therapy.
- Preference for clinicians who can provide therapeutic services to children/adolescents, families, adults, and couples.
- Preference for clinicians who are theoretically integrative and/or are willing to broaden their therapeutic skills through peer supervision, consultation, or additional training.
