Amanda SavoieMSc Student Email: amanda.savoie@unb.ca The objective of my MSc research is to explore species diversity and biogeography of the red algal genus Polysiphonia using molecular tools. This genus is very difficult to identify using traditional morphological characters, and has a long and convoluted taxonomic history. Using molecular tools in combination with morphology will give us a clearer picture of diversity, species limits & phylogenetic relationships of Polysiphonia in Canada. Preliminary results show that species diversity in this genus has been significantly underestimated.
