Basics of Personal Finances

Does anything to do with money make you break out in a cold sweat?  Do RRSP, RRIF, TFSA, LIRA all look like Greek/Russian/Chinese or worse?  Have you ever sat down and calculated what you will need for income in retirement?  Does the idea of doing so scare you witless?  Knowing what decisions to make about your RRSPs and other investments can be difficult and confusing.  This course is intended to help you understand investment terms and products and to introduce you to strategies and concepts to help build your personal net worth and security. Presented in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, you will have lots of opportunities to ask questions.

Dates: (FALL) Tuesdays, October 3 - October 24, 2017 (4 weeks)
               (WINTER) Tuesdays, January 23 - February 13, 2018 (4 weeks)
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 pm Students should ensure that they arrive a little early, since the building will be locked after 6pm.

Course fee: $130 (plus HST)

Marilyn WilliamsAbout the instructor: Marilyn Williams has been teaching with the Faculty of Business at UNBSJ for over a decade. A Certified Financial Planner, she works as a Financial Consultant with Investors Group and has over 15 years experience as a financial planner. Marilyn has instructed the BA3421 Personal Finance course in the Faculty of Business for several years and is passionate about educating the public on the ins and outs of investing and knowing the appropriate strategies for different life stages.
